IIA Group was established in the year 1981 and the foundation stone was laid by Capt. R.N. Sinha. He was also the founder chairman of Aviators Co-operative, the pioneer operator to start non-scheduled MRO (Maintenance Repair Organization) operations in the year 1968. The time when working on aircraft and helicopters was a mere dream for the student, IIA Group was amongst the first in India to set up an Aircraft Maintenance Engineering training institute. Thus IIA Group has been producing world-class Aircraft Maintenance Engineers for last 40 years.
When a good science laboratory in a college was considered an achievement, IIA Group brought in aircraft – Heavy pressurized Aircraft Hawker HS – 125, Learjet – 24, Bonanza A – 35, Helicopter SA – 318C, Eurocopter EC – 120B – for practical training of students. IIA Group contributed significantly in shaping up technical jobs and careers in Indian Aviation Industry.

In order to achieve its ambition of being a world class AME Training Provider, the institution has develop infrastructure essential for research and all-round development of its students. It has been created according to functionality, current trends and adequacy as per the requirements stipulated by DGCA, Govt. of India. The institute has an extremely modern and state-of-the-art building that goes a long way in facilitating a number of services for the students as well as its staff members.
